Personal Safety Education Programs
for parents and children/youth in our Diocese
The Diocese of Sacramento’s program respond to the U.S. Bishops mandate in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People that all dioceses implement safe environment programs. Program content instructs and helps children with matters of personal safety so that they are confident in self-protection skills and capable of identifying potential harm, avoiding vulnerable situations and communicating effectively.
All programs utilize instruction, dialogue, discussion, and printed material. The programs are available to children who attend Catholic schools or religious education classes. Parents are notified prior to presentation of the program.
Children Grades K-8: Circle of Grace
The Circle of Grace program is a personal safety education program for children enrolled in Catholic Faith Formation classes and Catholic schools. The Circle of Grace program helps children and youth to identify early on when they are uncomfortable with a situation and includes ways to seek the help of a trusted adult. The circle of Grace K-12 Program goals and objectives are met in all grades. The program is self-contained for each grade level.
