Is it better to receive communion standing or kneeling?
Standing. All liturgical formation is to teach standing as the proper posture for receiving Holy Communion. While an individual who kneels will still be offered communion, the norm is standing (GIRM 160) and a common posture shared by the assembly expresses its unity (GIRM 42; cf. 86). To communicate that kneeling is not the norm, a kneeler ("Prie Dieux") or other aid must not be offered for use by communicants.
Are patens or Communion-plates used during the distribution of Holy Communion?
Only if Holy Communion is distributed to the faithful using intinction, which is uncommon, are Communion-plates used (GIRM 287). Communion-plates are not used when communicants receive the host directly and/or the receive from the chalice directly.
Can the faithful be required to receive Holy Communion using intinction, whether at a typical Mass or at First Holy Communion?
No (GIRM 284).
Can the faithful be required to receive the host on the tongue?
No (GIRM 161).
