June 2020 special issue of Catholic Herald magazine is published, focusing on faith, hope and charity in a time of pandemic

The June issue of Catholic Herald magazine has been published. This is a special issue of the magazine devoted to "faith, hope and charity in a time of pandemic." The digital edition of the magazine is available at http://faithdigital.org/Sacramento/SAC0620/

In the cover story of the June issue, Jennifer Thao, catechumen at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, and Samantha Kellar, candidate at St. Isidore Parish in Yuba City, share how they are living in this unprecedented moment while waiting to receive the sacraments of initiation in order to be in full communion with the Catholic Church. "I need to place my trust in God," Jennifer says. "He has a better plan for me. I just need to be patient and everything will be OK." Samantha notes: "I believe it will happen as long as I continue to develop my relationship with God. It's all in God's plan."

Other feature stories in this issue include Bishop Jaime Soto's column on: "Out of this time of tribulation, a greater harmony may be developing between the home and the parish church"; how the Farris family of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Carmichael relies on their faith and adjusts to new routines during the pandemic; how principal Jenny Oliver of St. Joseph School in Auburn shares "like everything that life presents, we face it together as a family"; how Lorena Carranza of Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services is "blessed and honored" by giving back during food distributions to families in need; how working and studying from home offers the O'Brien family of Holy Spirit Parish in Sacramento opportunities for family support and togetherness; and Jonathan Fong, salutatorian of the class of 2020 at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, finds hope and gratitude in reflecting on his high school years during the pandemic.

Bishop Jaime Soto is the publisher of Catholic Herald magazine, which is published six times each year and includes moving faith stories about Catholics in the diocese, as well as news and events of the local church. Individual faith stories are the cornerstone of the magazine and columns also explore the Catholic faith and education about church teachings.
