Society of St. Vincent de Paul Sacramento Diocesan Council hosts 12th annual Benefit for the Poor

The Sacramento Diocesan Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul hosted its 12th annual Benefit for the Poor dinner on April 27, with nearly 500 attendees at the Double Tree Hotel in Sacramento.

Bishop Jaime Soto opened the program with an invocation. Following dinner, Judy Dietlein, council president, acknowledged and thanked those in attendance who so generously support the SVdP year after year.

Keynote speaker was Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet Suzanne Jabro, founder of the Center for Restorative Justice Works, a non-profit organization which deals with issues impacting women in prison and their families. She discussed the organization's flagship program, "Get on the Bus," which sends more than 1,000 children of prisoners each year to visit their parents in prison on Mother's and Father's Day.
