New Chancellor and Vice Chancellor

I am delighted to announce that Uli Schmitt has accepted my invitation to serve as the Chancellor of the Diocese of Sacramento beginning Thursday, July 1, 2021.  He will succeed Kathy Conner who is retiring.  Her last day will be Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Uli Schmitt will continue many of his current duties as the Director of Clergy Coordination and Formation, along with new responsibilities as Chancellor.

In addition, I am pleased to announce that Chantal LeFevre has accepted my invitation to serve as the Vice Chancellor and Director of Administration beginning Thursday, July 1, 2021.

Chantal LeFevre will work with Uli Schmitt in the office of the Chancellor to coordinate the management of the Pastoral Center.

Both Uli and Chantal have ably served the Pastoral Center and Parishes throughout the Diocese of Sacramento in their different capacities.  Uli has overseen an expansion of services to assist priests and deacons in being good disciples and coworkers of the Good Shepherd.  As Associate Director of Operations, Chantal has helped The Catholic Foundation to mature and grow, providing more resources for Catholic education, charitable works, and other vital pastoral services.  They have demonstrated a love for the Church and a zeal for the Mission Christ has entrusted to her.  I am confident they will contribute to helping the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Diocese together become an ever more hopeful and effective Sacrament of Christ in Northern California.

I am grateful for the devoted service Kathy Conner has provided to the Church in the Sacramento Diocese.  She has been a diligent coworker and stalwart companion assisting me with shepherding the People of God.  I wish Kathy and her family God’s many merciful blessings in her retirement.
