On Saturday, April 20, 2024, I was appointed by His Holiness, Pope Francis, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Sacramento.
It fills me with great honor and utmost humility to be considered and recognized by His Holiness and His Excellency, Bishop Jaime Soto.
My priestly journey started as a boy. I was brought up by my parents as God-fearing. My family attended Sunday Mass services, as well as Holy Days of Obligation religiously.
It was when I entered my high school years, that I began to realize the almost incomprehensible meaning and the effects of prayer and the sacraments in my life. Missionary priests assigned to our hometown captivated my interest with the work that they did. I can only attribute part of what, and who I am today as coming from their faithful influence.
"To become all things to all people", as St. Paul intimated in his letter to the Corinthians, may sound almost impossible considering my selfish human tendencies. But just like St. Paul, it is only with God's grace, and for the sake of and from the knowledge of the Gospel, that we can draw people to Christ. This is where I find exuberance and gratification - in serving and walking alongside people in their life’s journey. My priestly ministry makes for a gratifying and fulfilling avenue to serve the sick and the needy, to celebrate the sacraments, and to accompany people in their journey of discernment. All these, I vow to perform with honor and unapologetic love!
I would like to personally appeal to all families to make your home a school of proper devotion where the seed of vocation to religious life and steadfast faith continues to flourish.
With my devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, I continue to ask for her most powerful intercession that we may all find fulfillment in the presence of her son, our Lord Jesus Christ, as we walk this journey together, spreading His love by our words and our actions.
Lastly, I would like to appeal to you, my brothers and sisters, that with your unceasing prayers, and with God's grace, I will perform my episcopal charge and responsibilities with heartfelt dedication. Know that you will always be in my prayers as well!

Auxiliary Bishop-elect
El sábado 20 de abril del 2024, Su Santidad, el Papa Francisco, me nombró Obispo Auxiliar de la Diócesis de Sacramento.
Me llena de un gran honor y suma humildad ser considerado y reconocido por Su Santidad y su Excelencia Mons. Jaime Soto.
Mi camino sacerdotal comenzó cuando era niño. Mis padres me criaron con temor de Dios. Mi familia asistía a la Misa Dominical, así como a los días santos de obligación.
Cuando entré en mis años de secundaria, fue cuando comencé a darme cuenta del casi incomprensible significado y efectos de la oración y los sacramentos en mi vida. Los sacerdotes misioneros asignados a mi ciudad natal cautivó mi interés con el trabajo que realizaron. Puedo atribuir parte de lo que soy y de quién soy hoy a su fiel influencia.
"Me he hecho todo para todos", como San Pablo indicó en su carta a los Corintios, puede parecer casi imposible considerando mis tendencias humanas egoístas. Pero al igual que San Pablo, sólo con la gracia de Dios, y con el conocimiento del Evangelio, podemos atraer a las personas a Cristo. Aquí es donde encuentro plenitud y gratificación – sirviendo y caminando junto a las personas en el camino de su vida. Mi ministerio sacerdotal constituye una vía gratificante y satisfactoria para servir a los enfermos y necesitados, celebrar los sacramentos y acompañar a las personas en su camino de discernimiento. ¡Me comprometo a realizar todo esto con honor y amor sin remordimientos!
Quisiera hacer un llamado personal a todas las familias para que hagan de su hogar una escuela de devoción, donde la semilla de las vocaciones a la vida religiosa y una fe firme siga floreciendo.
A través de mi devoción a la Santísima Virgen María, sigo pidiendo su poderosa intercesión para que todos podamos encontrar plenitud en la presencia de su hijo, nuestro Señor Jesucristo, mientras recorremos juntos este camino, difundiendo su amor con nuestras palabras y nuestras acciones.
Por último, quiero hacer un llamado a ustedes, hermanos y hermanas, para que con sus continuas oraciones y con la gracia de Dios, pueda cumplir con mi cargo y mis responsabilidades episcopales con sincera dedicación. ¡Sepan que también ustedes estarán siempre en mis oraciones!
